Think all there is to do in Vegas is drink over-priced drinks, gamble your money away and ogle at scantily clad women teetering about in high heels? Well, you certainly can do those things, but there’s also world class rock climbing and mountain biking trails, hiking trails to high mountains or narrow canyon hot springs. The spring wildflowers are truly a revelation. The city has several quirky museums, including the Erotic Heritage Museum and the Neon Museum. You can take a tour of the Hoover Dam. Believe it or not, you can ski! You just have to get off the strip. I lived in the Vegas Valley for a few years, and I really enjoyed it, except for the 115 degree days in August. That’s when you want to stay in an air-conditioned casino. Otherwise, I recommend getting off the strip to explore. Hopefully this map of some of my favorite places will help.
